When I was in high school, I was a little bit nerdy who liked to read books in the school library. I was timid, so I didn't really have many friends back then. However, one day, I came across Taylor Swift's performance. She was singing a song with her acoustic guitar, and I was totally impressed by her confidence. And I thought to myself that maybe I could make a change to my boring life by learning how to play the guitar.

I took a course right after that. At first, I bought a classical guitar because the teacher at the center told me that the strings of this type were made of nylon, which was suitable for beginners. The first song that I learned was Pretty Boy by M2M. When I started to get to know the chords, it was quite struggling for me to play as my fingertips were calloused enough. From time to time, with regular practice, I managed to perform a few songs without being hurt.

After a few months, I gained some confidence about guitar skill. I decided to sign up for one singing performance on Teachers' Day even at school. All of my classmates were quite shocked when they saw me on the stage, performing in front of an enormous crowd. That performance has brought me a positive change to my life as knowing how to play the guitar has helped me win a lot of friends' hearts.

Now, every time that there’s a field trip, I'm always the first person to be called for singing. Until this day, I still feel jubilant about my decision to take the course.

Câu trả lời mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3: Changing
Câu trả lời mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3: Changing

1. What kind of events may be life-changing events?

There are some milestones that would have a powerful effect on one's life. I would like to mention 3 different situations. For most people, it may be the moment when they are accepted into their dream university or when their career is flying high. I think that these events are the time that they can prove their success.

  • milestone (n): cột mốc
  • fly high: thành công

2. Do Vietnamese people change jobs very often? Do you think that’s good?

The news has been reporting a lot about how job hopping is prevalent among Gen Z in my country. Well, I do agree that this occurrence does happen, but I don't think that the young should take all the blame since this could be a positive sign that they know how to identify toxic traits of a workplace or find themselves not well-qualified for the job that they’re taking. To me, it’s all about self-awareness.

  • job hopping (n): nhảy việc
  • take the blame: chịu sự chỉ trích
  • trait (n): đặc điểm
  • well-qualified (adj): đủ tiêu chuẩn

3. Do you think young people can adapt to changes more easily than old people?

Yes and no at the same time. Youngsters are in the process of developing themselves, so encountering changes wouldn't be a problem to them because I think variety is a spice of life. They are willing to adjust themselves to specific situations. On the flip side of the coin, sometimes, the young are too naive to handle the shock factor as they have few life experiences.

  • variety is a spice of life: sự đa dạng là hương vị cuộc sống
  • On the flip side of the coin: ngược lại
